徹底的な除草 Thorough weeding

姫路城周辺では樹木の剪定が頻繁に行われるだけでなく、草までも徹底的に取り除かれます。ちょっとくらい草が生えているほうが、緑が映えてきれいだと思うのですが、1本たりとも残さない徹底的な除草が行われています。その結果、春だというのにむき出しの土だけが目立つ風景になってしまっています。こうした状況はあちらこちらに見られます。草のない土はかさかさで、風が吹くと土埃が舞い上がります。そこに生えている樹木も、枯れ葉も草もない土の上で、弱っているように見えます。これから日差しがますます強くなる季節、そんなことにはお構いなしにせっせと枯れ葉をごみ袋に詰め、わずかの草も取り除き、除草剤を散布する作業が繰り返されます。

Not only are trees pruned frequently around Himeji Castle, but even grass is thoroughly removed. I think it's better to have a little grass to make the green shine, but the weeding is done thoroughly without leaving any one. As a result, even though it is spring, only the bare soil has become a conspicuous landscape. This situation can be seen here and there. The trees growing there also appear to be weak on the soil without dead leaves or grass.
